The new Cd from Mael Brothers' Sparks

Sparks' "Hello Young Lovers" new Cd album is released on February 6th through Gut Records in UK and "Perfume", the new single from Sparks' "Hello Young Lovers" released on January 30th. A North American licensing deal is still being negotiated. Soon Sparks will begin a world tour early next year, which will include these U.K. dates in February and visits to Japan, Australia and the United States.

On their new Cd album "Hello Young Lovers", Sparks protest predictability, obliterate the ordinary and demand utmost respect. With moments of sheer beauty, frenzy, dissonance, harmony, pure genius…"Hello Young Lovers" rocks !! It is cinematic and bold, lyrically liberal. "Hello Young Lovers" it's music for smart people. The only inspiration taken from any current music was the provocation to go as far as possible in the opposite direction. When writing and recording "Lil Beethoven" Sparks broke the rules, but in creating "Hello Young Lovers" the rule book has been thrown away. The resulting "Hello Young Lovers" new album is an extraordinary masterpiece.

Ron Mael and Russell Mael return to United Kingdom to present their eagerly anticipated new Cd album "Hello Young Lovers". Expect an astounding and challenging live spectacle as Sparks perform "Hello Young Lovers" in its entirety for the first half of the concert with the second half given to a celebration of their greatest hits. Preceding "Hello Young Lovers" set will be the single "Perfume," which will be commercially released Jan. 30 in the United Kingdom. A Never, has there been an auditory assault of such magnitude presented in the realm of pop music.
When Sparks' last album "Lil' Beethoven" hit the streets critics lauded and applauded, fans smiled smugly with overdue vindication and fellow musicians wept when faced with the reality that, once again, Sparks had raised the bar by which all other albums should be judged. Fans of Sparks classics like "The No. 1 Song in Heaven" and "This Town Ain't Big Enough..." should enjoy the new release. -

- Russell Mael & Ron Mael "Hello Young Lovers" -

Ron Mael and Russell Mael from Sparks present "Hello Young Lovers", their 20th album. To achieve such enormity and expansiveness Ron Mael and Russell Mael worked in a limitless vacuum for the best part of 18 months.

Russell Mael : "If the public were only allowed to hear one song from the new "Hello Young Lovers" album, I have no doubt that the single "Dick Around" would be the one selected to best encapsulate the spirit and scope of our new work. We are very proud of "Hello Young Lovers" and feel that it is musically as daring as any of the earlier Sparks albums were at their release."

Ron Mael : "Hello Young Lovers" album is bold, audacious and non-formulaic. Though the "Hello Young Lovers" album version is over six minutes long, we found a way to edit a song - "Dick Around" - length so that it could take on its own life and not be glossed over by radio simply because of its length.

"We like the fact that if someone only hears the single edit, they will be surprised to hear the numerous other sections which are on the album version." Yet for all the eccentricity, we still feel "Hello Young Lovers" is very much centered in the spirit of pop music, at least the way we think pop music should sound.

Ron Mael : "The single "Dick Around" and a track like "When I Sit Down To Play the Organ at the Notre Dame Cathedral" are both longer pieces that don't bear much relationship to the current climate in pop music. And even a song that is at once very accessible, "Waterproof", still plays with the accepted structures of pop music. Part of the reason one sets out to do an album like "Hello Young Lovers" is in reaction to what one hears in the current climate of pop music. We've taken up the challenge to push things further in pop music. We don't hear much of a sense of ambition or adventure - that's why we did "Hello Young Lovers".
